This is an Italian speciality fruit bread prepared for and especially enjoyed during the Christmas season. It is a distinctive fluffy cake that contains dried fruit and candied orange and lemon zest. The Panettone has a cylindrical base which extends into a cupola shape (like a church dome), it is usually about 12-15cm high and weighs 1kg.
